Prepare and pack
- Complete one Sample Requisition per specimen.
- Transfer the specimen to the kit tube. No kit on hand? Use a screw-cap 1.5 to 2.0 mL microcentrifuge (Eppendorf) tube. Label clinical samples with two patient identifiers.
- Seal the tube and absorbent pad in the biohazard bag. Put the requisition in the bag's outer pocket.
- Place the bag in the bubble mailer, then in a rigid cardboard box.
- Shipping without a kit? Use your own UN3373 packaging: the sealed tube with absorbent material in a leakproof bag, inside a rigid outer box.
Ship
Ship on the day of processing where possible. Ship overnight, Monday to Thursday, for delivery by 10:30 a.m. Central Time (FedEx Priority Overnight, UPS Next Day Air, or equivalent). Shipping category and stability depend on tube contents:
